Gather Rattan from the small palm-like plants in the Hanging Gardens, especially around Bamboo Forest and Upper Village, using Pruners. The launch walkthrough and regional gathering guide agree on those areas. A basket with a similar name is not the same source: published guides associate baskets with Jute.
Reach the right district with the right tool
Follow Cliff’s travel progression after the glider and continue into the Hanging Gardens. A demo video that stops before this district cannot show the complete current gathering route. Compare the version and active objective before treating an inaccessible district as a resource problem.
Make the basic Pruners if you do not already have them. The dedicated Rattan reference reports that the basic tier can harvest the trees. An upgraded-tool recipe elsewhere in your journal does not mean that every early gathering source requires that upgrade.
Look for plants, not baskets
Use the Bamboo Forest and Upper Village names as starting landmarks. Inspect small plants with palm-like leaves and read the interaction prompt. Select Pruners before harvesting, then check the item actually added to your inventory.
The distinction matters when you are gathering for the Collector Rod. The launch route separately describes Jute from scattered ropes or breakable baskets. Collecting one material does not complete the other requirement, even when both sources are in the same district.

Do not repeatedly harvest a lookalike just because a guide uses the word “rattan” in its object name. The gathered item name is a stronger check than the scenery alone.
Reserve raw material before refining everything
The fishing introduction leads to the Collector Rod, while the hammer upgrade also uses raw Rattan in its published recipe. Check the relevant live ingredient lines before processing your entire supply.
Flexible Lumber is a refined material made from Rattan in published crafting references. It is not interchangeable with the raw plant in every recipe. If you need it for later Pruners work, inspect both the Refining Station level and the final tool recipe rather than assuming that having Rattan alone finishes the chain.
If harvesting does not work
Check the selected tool, the displayed level requirement and your inventory space separately. If one source is unavailable, search another accessible part of the documented district instead of waiting beside one plant. This guide does not promise a fixed yield, node count or respawn timer.
Before another trip, compare what you carry with what is already in storage. Leave yourself a short list for the next craft, and keep quest materials separate from optional production.
