Craft the basic Pruners at your Project Station so you can gather plants such as the Portobello Mushrooms used for Mushroom Leather. Published tool and battery guides list Plastic Discards, Screws and Metal Plate as the basic recipe’s ingredients.
Gather the basic crafting materials
The publicly documented recipe uses ten Plastic Discards, ten Screws and two Metal Plate. Read your current crafting panel before leaving home to confirm that list still matches your build.
The launch walkthrough points to the Scrap Quarter for the early ingredients. Metal Plate is refined from Metal Scraps, so carrying raw scrap alone is not the same as having the plate ingredient ready. Follow Milo’s refining introduction if the processing station is still missing.
A useful shopping-list distinction is:
| Recipe line | What to check |
|---|---|
| Plastic Discards and Screws | How much you already hold or have stored. |
| Metal Plate | Whether it is refined rather than still raw scrap. |
| Energy requirement | Your available battery charge after processing. |
The tool guide reports three energy for making the basic Pruners. Use the live panel if your version differs.
Equip Pruners for the right gathering interaction
Do not treat every material source as a hammer target. The launch research route specifically uses Pruners to gather Portobello Mushrooms in the Hills. These feed the Mushroom Leather process and the first battery upgrade.
Use your tool-selection controls and check the prompt at the plant. If you approach the correct material but cannot harvest, confirm both the selected tool and any level requirement. A full inventory is another separate possibility; the storage guide explains that distinction.
Understand the level-two unlock
The public tool-upgrade guide identifies Murky Waters at the Central Lake Research Station as the Pruners Lv.2 recipe reward. It also lists Project Station Lv.2 and refined Copper Bar and Flexible Lumber as requirements for the later craft.
This is a different unlock from the hammer’s fish bundle. Completing one research set should not be treated as proof that all second-tier tools are available. Read the specific bundle reward and the recipe you want before committing your catches.
Refine after checking station levels
The later ingredients are not the same as Copper Scraps or raw Rattan. The upgrade guide places their processing in higher-level refining. If you own the tool blueprint but cannot make its components, inspect your Refining Station rather than repeatedly revisiting the fish bundle.
We keep the first craft and the upgrade overview together because both answer the same tool-progression problem. This page does not assert a complete route through every third-tier recipe or guarantee that a named plant drops a fixed quantity.
Sources and version notes
The opening tool route is documented in launch-day coverage; the ingredient and upgrade lists are public-source records. They have not been reproduced on our own game account. Check current recipe and interaction prompts when they differ.
