Get your first dog in Loftia through Joanna’s Notes From the Fauna quest in the Hanging Gardens. Follow the clues, supply the food requested at the bowl, name the dog, then return to Joanna to finish the rescue. This route is available through gameplay.
Reach Joanna through the main story
Continue the Hanging Gardens arrival, Kassim’s fishing introduction and the following research tasks. The launch walkthrough then sends you to help Joanna, Hazel and Kun. If Joanna’s dog task is not available yet, read your current story objective and finish its return conversation.
Keep that prerequisite chain separate from the cosmetic shop. Buying a pet accessory does not advance the animal-research task. Likewise, owning another companion from a bundle does not establish that the dog rescue has already been completed on this character.
Investigate the five clues
Both the published launch walkthrough and the dedicated pet guide describe five investigations. Look for the dirt patches surrounded by mushrooms and follow the quest’s search progression. The route eventually leads to a dog bowl behind a tree.
Track the actual objective while searching. Do not assume every ordinary dirt patch is a clue, or that a map screenshot from another player identifies a permanently available interaction. If an investigation seems to do nothing, check whether the objective count changed and whether the game has moved you on to the next stage.
Bring crops to the bowl
The rescue route calls for lettuce and carrots. Inspect the bowl for the quantities in your version before harvesting or buying extra crops. This page does not rely on a fixed feeding count copied from a database.
A useful preparation sequence is:
- Confirm you have accepted Joanna’s animal task.
- Finish the clue objective rather than only locating the area.
- Read the bowl’s ingredient request.
- Bring the requested crops and complete its interaction.
- Name the dog when prompted and report back to Joanna.
For the growing steps, use seeds and planting. Reserve those crops before shipping a harvest you meant to use for the rescue.
Finish the quest and inspect the habitat reward
The pet guide reports a Basic Habitat reward from the rescue. Inspect the actual quest reward to see whether you have received a placeable item or a recipe, then follow the corresponding building or crafting prompt. This distinction prevents a missing crafted object from being mistaken for a failed adoption.
The official Early Access overview confirms that pets can accompany players and have care, appearance and friendship interactions. It does not provide a complete rescue-location database. Other animals may have different prerequisites, so the first dog’s five clues are not a rule for every species.
Gameplay adoption and optional purchases
The first dog does not require the Supporter Pack. That pack’s robot companion and optional pet appearance items are separate from Joanna’s gameplay route. Check what a purchase actually contains rather than treating an outfit as another rescue unlock.
