Look for Overgrown Vines in Gridfall and gather them with Pruners to obtain Vines. Do not substitute Rattan or Bioluminescent Ivy: those are separate items even when their plants look related.
Begin in the Historical Quarter
Regional material coverage and the Historical Quarter map both list Overgrown Vines in this part of Gridfall. Use the spot name and interaction prompt to identify the gathering object, rather than treating every patch of greenery on a building as harvestable.
Travel to Gridfall through the story first. If that destination is not yet available, follow the Hanging Gardens progression and Bounce Shoes objective instead of searching the starting district for the same plant. The official Early Access overview identifies Gridfall as the salvaging district; it is a different gathering trip from collecting materials in Loftia City.
Match the spot to the tool
| Gathering source | Reported tool | Practical distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Overgrown Vines | Basic Pruners | The earlier direct source to check |
| Pile of Cables | Pruners Lv.3 | A later salvage source, not an early shortcut |
The public gathering records agree on these different tiers. If a cable pile refuses your current tool, that does not mean all Vines require the same upgrade. Check an Overgrown Vines spot before planning late-game equipment solely for this material. The Pruners guide covers the earlier tool workflow.
After gathering, read the item name in inventory. An interaction animation by itself does not tell you which ingredient you received, particularly when a salvage object can produce several types of material. This page does not promise a fixed amount, a guaranteed bonus or an exact respawn timer.
Keep Vines separate from other plant materials
Rattan comes from a different plant-gathering route in the Hanging Gardens. Plant Fiber is another material, and Bioluminescent Ivy has its own identity and progression requirements. A recipe asking for Vines is not satisfied by carrying more of one of those alternatives.
This distinction also matters after refining. Vine Fabric and raw Vines are not the same recipe entry. Compare the final recipe with your inventory before converting a stack you were saving for a tool, a donation or another craft. The safest gathering list records the exact item name and the remaining amount, rather than only “plant materials.”
Decide whether recycling is worth it
The item database lists Vines as a recycling output from several crafted items, including Vine Fabric and some furniture or clothing. Read the Recycler preview before sacrificing anything you want to keep. The existence of a recycling route does not guarantee that crafting and recycling a new object is an efficient way to obtain the ingredient.
If the first gathering area is inaccessible, compare its story gate with the recipes you already have. Keep this separate from a missing-tool diagnosis; an unlocked recipe does not automatically open every district.
Sources and version scope
These directions compare regional coverage, gathering records and item uses. Data-derived sources may share an extraction; they are not independent playtests or a live server census.
