The Secret Lake is in the Hanging Gardens, east of the Overgrowth and north of Windmill Island. Published routes distinguish later access with an upgraded Glider from an earlier, player-reported climb using Bounce Shoes and upgraded tools; the shortcut is not a guaranteed route in every patch.
Choose the route before gathering equipment
The official overview confirms the Glider’s Propeller upgrade and Bounce Shoes as separate traversal features. Regional guides connect the Propeller to later Gridfall progression. If you prefer the story-led approach, continue those objectives and return when the Glider upgrade is available.
The alternative described below is a reported terrain route, not an official promise that progression can always be skipped. Check the Glider guide if basic gliding is still unavailable. Owning the shoes does not supply a Glider, and being able to reach one ledge does not guarantee enough height for the final crossing.
Prepare for the reported Overgrowth climb
The published shortcut uses Hammer Lv.2 for the blocked approach, Pruners Lv.2 for brambles, Bounce Shoes for height and a Glider for the crossing. Check Hammer progression and Bounce Shoes before traveling.
Do not read a summary table’s “no requirement” label as proof that starter tools are enough. The same route article describes upgraded tools in its instructions. If another player has opened an obstacle, that still does not establish that the remaining traversal works with your equipment or in every server state.
Follow landmarks rather than an assumed jump button
The November route description follows these broad landmarks:
- Approach the Overgrowth from Lower Village and pass the rock and bramble barriers.
- Find the banana trees and use the nearby mushroom or pad to reach the upper route with Bounce Shoes.
- Continue by the resident in a pink bunny hat, then look for the log and rocky upper ledge.
- Follow the grassy mountainside until you can identify the lake and a plausible glide across.
Treat these as landmarks to compare with your current build, not exact coordinates. Stop when the terrain no longer matches rather than repeating a blind jump. We have not independently tested the shortcut, reproduced its timing or verified a universal input sequence.
Use the story route if the shortcut fails
Before another attempt, distinguish three problems: a blocked approach, insufficient height and insufficient glide reach. Changing an ingredient list cannot fix a traversal prompt, while a longer running start cannot open an equipment-gated obstacle.
If the route does not work, continue the main story toward the Propeller and revisit the area later. That avoids treating a community shortcut as the only way forward. You do not need to complete this detour merely to learn how to use the Collector Rod; the fishing guide covers the normal introduction separately.
Sources and version scope
TheGamesWatch describes the shortcut with credited player images; regional coverage also identifies a player-reported early route and the later Propeller option. Agreement does not prove independent testing. No route screenshot is copied here, and no rare-fish list or guaranteed reward is invented.
